Twenty20 Cricket World Cup 2007


Twenty20 Cricket is a new and shorter version of cricket. The purpose to introduce Twenty20 Cricket is to compete other popular sports like Football, tennis etc, bcoz this version of cricket takes less time compare to One day international. Twenty20 Cricket takes only 75 minutes to complete 1 inning. The Twenty20 Cricket Rules are also very interesting to enhance the interest of the game.

To popularize Twenty20 Cricket, the cricket's governing body, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has organized Twenty20 Cricket World Cup. The inaugural Twenty20 Cricket World Cup is is going to be held in South Africa in September 2007. ICC has Planned to held Twenty20 Cricket World Cup in every two years.

Twenty20 Cricket World Cup scheduled to take place in South Africa from September 11 to September 24, 2007. It will be the first Twenty20 Cricket World Cup, complete in 10 days.

The world Cup will consists of 12 teams, i.e. 9 test playing nations plus 3 qualifiers. The 12 teams are divided into four groups of three teams each.

All Twenty20 Cricket World Cup matches will be played at the following three grounds:

  • Newlands Cricket Ground, Cape Town
  • Sahara Stadium Kingsmead, Durban
  • Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg
